For a nation with a demographic crisis Japan has remarkably few hospices, in spite of their cost and convenience advantages. Japan Hospice is ideally placed to change that.
The Japanese hospice market is a nascent industry, with none of the major three operators over a decade old. We expect the combination of a rising death rate, medical system pressures incentivising hospitals towards rapid discharge and terminal patients increasingly choosing palliative care to generate significant and sustainable demand.
Japan Hospice can receive approximately Y1m in sales per person per month (of which the patient pays Y200k), or approximately three times that of a typical elderly care home.
